Assistant Superintendent: Arcola Country Club

Arcola Country Club is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join our agronomy team. Founded in 1909, Arcola Country Club is a distinguished private golf and social club located in Paramus, New Jersey. The club features a championship 18-hole golf course originally designed by Herbert H. Barker and later refined by Willard G. Wilkinson and Robert Trent Jones Sr. The course is consistently ranked among the top in the state.

Arcola’s agronomy and grounds team is dedicated to delivering exceptional playing conditions through meticulous attention to detail, innovation, and a commitment to quality. We are currently in the midst of a major golf course renovation led by Andy Staples, along with a full irrigation system installation—making this an exciting time to join the team.

Position Summary

The Assistant Superintendent works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to manage the daily maintenance operations of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This role is hands-on and leadership-focused, involving turf management, staff supervision, and the execution of agronomic programs to maintain championship-level playing conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing daily golf course maintenance activities

  • Supervise, train, and motivate maintenance staff

  • Implement agronomic programs including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control

  • Monitor course conditions and assist with diagnosing and resolving turf issues

  • Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment

  • Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, repair, and scheduling

  • Maintain accurate records for chemicals, fertilizers, and maintenance practices

  • Uphold all safety standards and environmental best practices

  • Support in-house restoration projects and capital improvements


Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 1–3 years of golf course maintenance experience preferred

  • Valid New Jersey pesticide applicator license

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required

  • Demonstrated passion for turfgrass management and professional growth

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $80,000-$85,000 (commensurate with experience)

Assistant Superintendent: Hollow Brook Golf Club

Hollow Brook Golf Club is a premier golf facility located approximately one hour north of New York City in Westchester County. The property sits on more than 250 acres of rolling terrain and features a modern championship-style layout known for dramatic elevation changes and strong conditioning. Built in 2002 by Eric Bergstol, the course is a true reflection of the unique design characteristics he incorporates.

Position Summary

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent works directly with the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of daily maintenance and agronomic operations. This is a hands-on leadership position with strong involvement in crew management, irrigation, pesticide and fertilizer applications, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily planning and execution of course maintenance
  • Supervise and train maintenance staff
  • Apply fertilizers and plant protectants in accordance with label and regulations
  • Monitor turf health, moisture, and environmental conditions
  • Assist with irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs
  • Participate in course setup and tournament preparation
  • Maintain accurate records of applications and maintenance activities
  • Assist with equipment management and shop coordination
  • Works closely with the golf superintendent in not only supporting a successful crew but their own career development

 

Qualifications

  • Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field preferred
  • New graduates looking for a 2nd assistant or AIT role are encouraged to apply
  • NYS pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain)
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems and turf equipment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Through understanding of the summer requirements associated with summer maintenance needs of high performing putting greens in Westchester County

Golf Course Superintendent: Windham Mountain Club

 

Windham Mountain Club is seeking a strategic, hands-on Golf Course Superintendent to lead all agronomic operations.

This role is responsible for the complete care, conditioning, and long-term performance of the golf course, grounds, infrastructure, and equipment fleet. The Superintendent will continue building systems, culture, and operational discipline that elevate Windham Mountain Club’s golf experience for decades to come. The Superintendent will work cross-functionally with resort leadership to support year-round programming, signature events, and peak season execution.
