The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge in Monroe, NY is a Jack Nicklaus signature design semi-private golf course.  Managed by world leader Troon Golf, we have just completed large-scale capital projects such as new cart paths, bridges, bunker renovation, tree removal and drainage that have reinvigorated the entire property. The Club sits on a historic 220 acre estate with landmarks predating the American Revolution.

Key Responsibilities of the Superintendent:

The Superintendent reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for all golf course maintenance of Mansion Ridge. The responsibilities include: turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, member relations, scheduling/maintenance or irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance of regulatory issues. The Golf Course Superintendent works to create an environment where staff is involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, members, guests and the property

Educational Requirements

Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science).

Experience Requirements

3-5 years’ experience as either Golf Course Superintendent or Lead Assistant Superintendent at a high end daily fee or private facility. 

Special Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of irrigation repair and maintenance and have experience with pesticide applications. Candidate must have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and be able to work in a team oriented environment.

Leewood is a private club opened in 1922. The 18 hole golf course was designed by Devereux Emmett with an extensive renovation by Stephen Kay in 1996 and another renovation by Dave Heatwole in 2011 that included 2 new green complexes, 20 new tees, many water features, and triple row Rain Bird irrigation system.  Currently, we are completing an in-house bunker renovation (9 holes are completed).  Next spring we will be bringing in a contractor to rebuild 3 greens and the associated bunkers for those holes, as well sand capping a fairway.  The clubs website is www.leewoodgolfclub.org to learn more about Leewood.

 This position will be exposed to a wide variety of experiences over the next several years.

 The focus of this position will be material application, irrigation system oversight, and water management; however, it will   also include golf course setup and crew supervision.

 Weekend rotation- every other weekend off in season and on call in winter (for snow removal) every third weekend. Quality of life is important at Leewood.

Educational Requirements

Prefer 2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass Science, or related degree from an accredited school.

Experience Requirements

Prefer 2 years experience including, boom sprayers, fertilizer application, irrigation system management, hand watering, golf course setup, crew supervision/mentoring.

Special Requirements

Possess or ability to obtain New York State DEC pesticide applicators license within 3 months.
