Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent

Position Summary:
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent supports the Golf Course Superintendent in the daily management, maintenance, and improvement of the golf course. This position plays a key role in ensuring that playing conditions meet the highest standards, supervising grounds crews, and assisting with turf management, irrigation, and equipment operation. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a passion for agronomy and golf course operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of daily golf course maintenance activities.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Monitor turf conditions, disease, and pest activity, and assist in implementing appropriate control programs.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system, including scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Ensure proper use and care of equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate records related to chemical applications, irrigation, and daily activities.
  • Enforce safety standards and promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Assist in budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Support special projects such as construction, renovation, and landscape improvements.
  • Act as Superintendent in their absence.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of golf course maintenance experience, with some supervisory responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass species, irrigation systems, fertilizers, pesticides, and modern maintenance practices.
  • Ability to operate and train others on golf course equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license required; pesticide applicator’s license (or ability to obtain) strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing physical labor.
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and operating equipment.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary $60.0-$70.0 based on experience.
