Southern Dutchess CC: Golf Course Superintendent

Operations: One of the oldest golf courses in the area, Southern Dutchess Country Club was established in 1902 and has experienced a number of renovations and upgrades during its 117-year tenure. It offers a challenging, pristine 9-hole golf course, Olympic size swimming pool and an updated, yet anachronistic clubhouse with full facilities and many amenities. The Southern Dutchess Country Club is a private; member owned country club located in Beacon, N.Y. Beacon is a blossoming artist’s community that has become one of the Hudson Valley’s main tourist attractions. Southern Dutchess Country Club is situated between the Beacon Hills and the Hudson River conveniently near the intersection of I84 and Route 9D.

Responsibilities: The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the administration, management and maintenance of the golf course grounds, properties and associated buildings. The candidate must work closely with the Head Golf Pro and report to the SDCC Board of Directors. Related duties include but are not limited to: hiring, training and supervision of all grounds maintenance personnel, budget development and financial management, inventory monitoring and replenishment. The candidate must also be well versed in the upkeep, repair and maintenance of related equipment.

Qualifications:
·       Minimum of Associate’s Degree in Turf Grass Management from an accredited University
·       Minimum of 2 years as Superintendent or First Assistant Superintendent
·       Must have New York Pesticide Supervisory License, or be able to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
·       Advanced knowledge of agronomy as it pertains to poa annua and bentgrass management in the Northeast.
·       Solid irrigation philosophy, practices, experience and knowledge.
·       Golfer/student of the game with a sound understanding of ideal playing conditions.
·       Hands on approach to solving problems including equipment issues.
